On Wednesday we had our first Mothers Demo Day for 2012. Four cars were booked in: Peter’s RX7, Nick’s S13 Silvia, Scott’s Ma70 Supra and Albert’s DC2R Integra. The day was slow to start with the horrendous Sydney CBD 9am traffic, everyone was late! Scott missed the traffic and was first in followed by George from Mothers, Nick, Peter and finally Albert.

With only four cars this time round George (with the help of James also from Mothers) had more time dedicated to each car.

Scott and George eager to start the day.

Scott’s MA70 Supra.

Nick’s s13.

Peter’s Series 8 Rx-7.

Albert from Cars For Hope dropped in as well.

Plenty of Mothers polishes, waxes and cleaners for everyone.

First off was Scott’s Ma70 Supra. Being a 20+ year old car, the paint had seen better days, but George had a couple of ideas to at least give the paint one last huh-rah.

Light scratches top right, and some heavy deep scratches middle left.

We used Mothers clay bar, Pre-wax cleaner and a pro buff (by George) to bring the paint up and remove some of the deep scratching. Then Mothers Sealer Glaze and finally Mothers Carnuaba waxed to protect the paint.

Scott applying Mothers Pre-wax cleaner like a pro.

George buffing out the scratches.

Check out the shine!

Nick’s S13 also got Clay Bar, Pre-wax cleaner, Sealer and Glaze and a pro buff treatment.

Mother’s Wax Attack with Sealer and Glaze to finish off Nick’s S13.

Our boy Albert from Cars For Hope having a go.

Residue leftover from having a magnetic P-plate in the same place, was no match for Mothers Scratch Remover

The DC2R’s paint work was generally in good shape, but it too needed clay baring and waxing.

When you get a mixture of light scratches and water spotting, its time to call and expert! Pete’s Rx-7 got the full treatment.

Clay bar First.

Dirt, grime, bits of dead bugs and exhaust fumes, its all in there!

George buffing out and removing the light scratches with Mothers Professional Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound.

Removing the swirl marks left behind.

All gone and mirror flat finish.

Next we used Mothers Reflections Top Coat specially designed for black cars. This gives the black extra depth. Applying it with the Wax Attack makes for easy work.

All done.

Its all in the details. A clean glossy body wouldn’t look right with some old scratched up rear tail lights.

Mothers Headlight Restoration was used to bring life back into those sexy rear RX-7 series 8 Tail lights.

A final wipe down with a Micro Fibre cloth just case we missed any spots.

Outside in the sun, the black is amazing!

After a hard morning of buffing, waxing and polishing the results speaks for themselves

Big thank you to the guys who came out and spent the morning with us. George and James from Mothers did a fantastic job helping everyone out and sharing their infinite knowledge on car care and paint work.

KELLY RACING DEFECTS TO NISSAN AS OF 2013

Written by: Jordan Smith source: http://www.v8supercarsfangroup.com

Four-car, family-owned V8 Supercars team Kelly Racing is set to announce tomorrow that it will become the new headline act of Japanese car maker Nissan’s planned assault on the 2013 V8 series and will be renamed to “Nissan Motorsport”. The news breaks only a matter of hours after V8 Supercars personel today stated that they would be making an “historic announcement” which had been “several years in the making” at Melbourne’s Crown Casino. (Also the venue at which V8 Supercars originally launched the Car of the Future project.)

The team is expected to run a colour scheme reflective of Nissan’s sacred colours, red, blue and white, but is also likely to maintain its current sponsors in some capacity. It is also believed that the team will continue to run up to as many as four cars in the main series championship. Many other major details are yet to be finalised though, including what Nissan model will be used, and what engine will be campaigned. Possibilities on the model-front include but are not limited to the Maxima large car, the four-door Skyline and/or the mid-size Altima or Primera. In terms of the engines, it is speculated that Kelly Racing will work together with Nissan Australia (Along with the Japanese NISMO motorsport group) to create an “Aussie Version” of one of the Japanese giant’s current V8 Racing engines.

The news comes somewhat surprisingly to many people, given the fact that Chrysler had been linked to Garry Rogers Motorsport and more-to-the-point V8 Supercars only last month as the main contender for the first official new maunfacturer announcement. However, the Nissan Announcement doesn’t close the doors for either Chrysler or V8 Supercars by any means. It also comes as a disappointment to many loyal armchair supporters who have for 20 years now embraced the religious Ford VS Holden battle.

V8 Supercars themselves however, couldn’t disagree more with those loyal armchair supporters, saying that the powerhouse outfit’s announcment will bulletproof the sport in the future. That statement, coupled with the fact that it is widely understood that the announcement is set to be the first of many, holds the sport in good stead for the future.

All will be revealed tomorrow, so stay tuned to the V8 Supercars Fan Group for more over the next 24 hours and don’t forget to SHOW YOUR PASSION by clicking on the link below to tell us what you think about this announcement

Advan Neova Cup competitors get ready for another year of racing. The Advan Nevoa Cup is back and better!

We’re starting with a clean slate for the 2012 ADVAN Neova Cup, all times are being reset and now ADVAN A050 & A048 are eligible to enter.

The ADVAN Neova Cup makes track days and lap dashes more fun. It allows drivers to compete at circuit days and car clubs using an online leader board. Simple rules like “road registration” and having to use the same tyres level the playing field.

It’s not only the winners who’ll win. There’s a prize pool drawn at the end of the year for everyone who enters the ADVAN Neova Cup. Every time you submit a time from a track day you’ll get an entry. Stay tuned for more information on the ADVAN Neova Cup prize pool.

What is the Advan Neova Cup ?

Click here to view the embedded video.

You don’t need a race car and you don’t need a race suit, all you need is a set of ADVAN Neova AD08/ A050 or A048 and a street registered car.

Attend any timed track day using Natsoft timing equipment, set a timed lap, fill out the ADVAN Neova Cup entry form and keep an eye out for your name and car in the leader board.

Winners of each class will be awarded a trophy, and a mystery major prize will be given to the outright fastest and be added onto the Yokohama ADVAN hall of fame for eternity.

For more info click the Advan Neova Cup button on the top menu

Car forums have come along way from “my (insert car make and model) is better then your (insert car make and model).”

It sounds familiar to a iconic race series we have here in Australia. But it was after Will posted his Forum battle Competitor Entry, that he nailed the meaning of Forum Battle on the head while sharing his feature on OZMAZDACLUB.

”The whole concept of the Forum Battle revolves around ‘love’. We are all coming together to appreciate the entire spectrum of car scenes and have an awesome time. It will be a big event with television coverage as well. If you want to attend one of the largest forum events in Australian history, this is it. Make sure you don’t miss it and again, if you are interested in participating, it is not about winning” – ttshark

“Coming together to appreciate the entire spectrum of car scenes and have an awesome time” Forum battle couldn’t of have said it any better. Look past the name Forum Battle, the categories, and point system and it’s a show, a festival and a celebration of what online car forums are about offline.

In the real world, where the keyboard is as useful as using a hammer to take off a 12mm bolt, all that really matters, is driving our cars, meeting up with mates and catching up, to outsiders looking in, instantly we fall under the “hoons, reckless rev heads” label, and it’s time we make a difference and start using the power of the media to make a change. Charles Kha, Chief editor of Speedhunters, puts it perfectly (he’s also been recently featured on Zen garage)

”It’s not easy to be a modifier these days. While our scene has finally gone from underground obscurity to mainstream acknowledgment (modified cars have infiltrated television, toys, video games, movies, fashion and music), we are now facing a growing number of obstacles…”

“…Then there are the seemingly never-ending pressures from society. While our car culture may be recognised by the mainstream, it doesn’t mean we’ve been accepted. The media continue to circle above us, waiting to pounce the moment there’s a car crash involving a modified car or young driver. This in turn compels politicians – vying for the public’s vote – to put pressure on the Authorities to clamp down on us with stricter regulations and harsher penalties.” – Charles Kha, Autosalon Magazine, Issue 85, 2010.

How do car forums and the car scene move forward and stamp out this “hoon” image? Do what we do best: get together and have a good old time enjoying our cars the way they were built for, and show the media, the outsiders, that not all of us are “hoons” but are brothers, sisters, sons and daughters with one passion for cars.

We’ve all at one stage or another, seen video clips from the U.S , Japan and UK of epic car festivals. A field of 300+ cars show and shine , 9 sec drag cars, blistering fast time attack machines and drift cars that pump smoke effortlessly. Events like this are also not a new thing for Australia, with one recently being boardcasted across all the TV networks news show. But not all of us own or are interested in old school muscle and carby v8 powered cars (Even though I understand and recognize its importance) a utopian like event still doesn’t exist.

Its time to embrace the lifestyle we love and work so hard for, cause car culture is here to stay and so we should be proud of it.

Forum Battle Team

Due to popular demand Forum Battle will be opening the flood gates, and allowing competitors to enter multiple disciplines, every competitor will also automatically gain VIP access and be entered into the show shine event.

Forum battle wants each and every competitor to be able to go home with a proper Motorsport adrenalin filled weekend.

Points gained in these events will also go to your Forums total point score. PRIZES,PRIZES,PRIZES. Winning is always sweeter when you get to take home a trophy and prizes. But what if you could take a big chunk of the 20K prize pool? We say if you’ve got the car to do the job, don’t hold back.

And for those of us lucky enough to have sponsors helping us out, this is a great opportunity to send some love back to the sponsors and get great coverage+reach for all those important potential customers. Forum Battle will have multiple car bloggers, photographers and video bloggers all making the trip to Calder Park to cover Forum Battle.

Source : motormavens

When it comes to car shows, judging criteria is usually based on how the car looks or what kinds of modifications it has. Having attended tons of the same old car shows, our good friend Tony Lee from ItsJDMYo had an idea to make a different type of contest within the car scene.

While driving up or down a driveway may seem like a mundane everyday task for most, it obviously requires a certain amount of technique when you have a lowered car. Tony took that idea and decided to make it into a different form of driving competition, with the help of certain friends. Our own Editor-in-Chief Antonio was selected to be the emcee of the event, while judging duties were handled by Yogi from Fatlace, Noel from Canibeat, and ItsJDMYo’s own Keychain.

The drivers were judged out of a possible 40 points. Drivers could earn up to 10 points for the amount of angle they used going up the driveway (less angle, or 90 degrees straight is worth more than extreme sideways angle); up to 10 more were awarded for angle going down, up to 10 points for scraping on their way up, and up to 10 more for scraping on the way down. Penalties included a 2 point deduction for reversing while trying to get up or down and another 2 point deduction for passing the marker cone (aka import model Holly Lee).

When I see someone with a slammed car trying to drive up or down a steep driveway, I can’t help but stop to watch to see how they do it. Whether they turn at an extreme angle using the whole driveway or go balls to the wall and head straight in, watching the cars compete today I couldn’t help but laugh and be shocked at the same time. I never would have thought watching cars going up and down a drive way would be so exciting. Calling it So You Think You Can Stance (title based off of the TV show So You Think You Can Dance), it turned out to be a really fun event to attend.

Mickey Andrade from HRE wheels came out with his pearl white AE86. With some sick HRE wheels, his paint is a matte version of what you would see on the newer Lexus IS/GS.

Amongst the many attendees, Formula D driver John Russakoff from JSP Fab came to the show with his 1969 KE10 Corolla Sprinter. Rocking a rare set of Enkei AP Racing wheels, John was pegging his speedometer at 80mph on his drive up from San Diego. This has to be one of the sickest Corollas I have seen to date. I haven’t seen this car around since 2009 at JCCS in Long Beach.

This E30 BMW with the bosozoku style oil cooler up front is actually turbo charged! Owned by a guy named Kyle and built by Chris Castro of Castro Motorsports, the E30 is a good example of Japanese style on a European build.

Milt Salamanca of the Low n Slow crew rolled out and was the first up in the competition. He didn’t scrape much going up the driveway even at his extremely low ride height, mainly because the bottom of his car is already smooth and flat from scraping every day.

Holly Lee came out today thinking she was going to be modeling at a booth. Instead, Tony made her act as the marker cone for the competition. Basically, drivers had to scrape in and out of the parking lot without hitting her.

Armand Pranadi brought out his wide body SW20 Toyota MR2, not just to hang out and show his car but to actually compete.

Scraping your bumper was an inevitable thing when your car sits this low.

Sitting on 18×10 and 19×12.5 Work Meister S1 wheels, he kept catching his fenders on the way up and down. Everyone in the crowd winced at the popping sounds his fenders made as the wheel lips made contact with them. He came out without any damage during the competition, but as he was reentering just to park the car he actually cracked a fender. You can probably see why…
