When it comes to car shows, judging criteria is usually based on how the car looks or what kinds of modifications it has. Having attended tons of the same old car shows, our good friend Tony Lee from ItsJDMYo had an idea to make a different type of contest within the car scene.

Operation Killer-watt – A Current Affair – Hoon Report 24/1/12

Now, before you read this and comment below, please don’t swear, abuse etc, be constructive and add your thoughts, but don’t add fuel to their fire

Ok, I’m not one to rant, but really I’d like to thank ACA for again taking it upon themselves to not only brand us as Hoons, but Rev Heads and also use the term Car Enthusiast as though it’s a bad thing.

Firstly Tracey G, you open by stating that the Police (whom genuine and passionate car enthusiasts such as the people we promote) or Highway Cops as you put it, hit the road to slow down rev heads.

A: None of the well stereotypically selected drivers in the actual segment seemed to be driving in any way that seemed to be deemed unsafe, so how were the Police “slowing them down”…

B: I’m sure a quick walk around any shopping centre car park would find an astounding number of “non hoon” vehicles, with bald tyres and a number of other unroadworthy faults.

C: Not that it matters, but 1 minute of research could have prevented Sarah Stewart from calling the Evo a WRX. I’m sure this is the “scoop” she’s always been hoping might just land her a Walkley award as she’s probably normally stuck doing pieces about the most amazing new bra or old couples suffering from “bill shock”.

Anyway, this is HoonTV not having a rant, but wanting to stick up for all of those people who are extremely passionate about cars and bikes and who like to enjoy them in a safe and careful manner. We go to race tracks, car shows, drag racing and events where we can enjoy our vehicles, but please don’t brand us all just because you think you can. Essentially you’re stepping over the line with this one, but I’m sure it’s more about ratings. What’s next, branding car clubs as criminal organisations?

Summernats Car Festival 25

Words: Ryan Lewis. Photos: MJ Digital. Source: THE-LOWDOWN

Hands down, no other event has more Aussie motoring character in it than Summernats. For better or worse, it’s the most anticipated event by all Aussie horsepower fanatics. The Summernats Car Festival has been running for a quarter of a century, and every year delivers the loudest three-and-a-half day weekend of burnt rubber, race fuel and rock ‘n’ roll. Up to 1500 elite street machines descend on Canberra, followed by 85,000 adoring fans. People bask in tyre smoke clouds and the smell of bourbon for as far as the eye can see. Bet your bottom dollar that Summernats has everything to do with Australia’s passionate love of V8s and burnouts. Automotive tomfoolery is our business. We spent last weekend soaking up the wonder that is Summernats for the first time. It was unlike anything else we’ve experienced. No words will quite capture the spectacle in its entirety, so here’s our photographic guide to Australia’s number one horsepower party.

Pushing Pebbles on Daily Basis!

It’s safe to assume that majority of the lowest & widest Z’s in this country come right out of Texas. Not to take away from other states like California, Florida, Hawaii, etc. as they definitely have some slammed Z’s, but Texas and slammed Z’s go hand in hand. One of the main reasons things are the way they are (in our opinion of course) is because guys like Swang N’ Bang & BRG who paved the road for many. Coincidentally owner (Dan) of this particular Z happens to be one of the fellow BRG fellas. Dan grew up in San Antonio, Texas and started out with an Acura Integra sitting on a set of Rotas. At one of the local meets he spotted his first properly “fitted” car, a Nissan 350Z and that’s where it all started.

Later he learned that it was Edafe rolling on his DPE wheels, and they eventually ended up becoming good friends. Dan says that he never thought he would make his car look as sick as Edafes but a few months later he got his pearl white RSX Type-s and got to work. Drop, wheels, the whole nine yards. His goal was to have a nice, flush fitment but as he started hanging out with more of the Z guys (such as Erics), he knew that that was the car he wanted. He started with a set of aggressive Work Equips (18×11 +10 & 18×12 -20) and BC Coilovers but they just weren’t doing the trick for him. Fast forward a few months and Dan found himself sitting on a set of brand spanking new DPE ST5 wheels!

Corolla sleeper – Nissan VG30 turbo powered

Scotty’s KE30 Toyota Corolla street sleeper was built in a mere 4 weeks. Power comes from a $60 wrecking yard stock unopened Nissan VG30 V6 3L engine, Garret roller bearing turbo, custom LPG straight gas fuel system by Tunnel Vision, ZX 5spd box and an R180 diff.

This was the first time out and the car was suffering from diff hop and severe clutch slip in 4th gear running a best time of 11.4 at 127mph. Power is transmitted through tiny 215mm 14in ET Street Radial tyres and was driven to and from the track. The car should be good for 10s at 130+mph next time out in full street trim.

Bloodmasters Teaser Video

The team is half street gang and half missile drift crew which is composed of several Drift Alliance Members, a few Drift ALliance Aces, all mixed in with a few new bloods of the sport. The video boasts Ryan Tuerck, Chris Forsberg, and Tony Angelo tearing up Englishtown Raceway in what has to be one of the best drifting videos we have seen in a long time. While the Drift Alliance these days is all but dead (except for Rhys Millen joining the team) this just marks the feeling of 2004 Drift Alliance or dare I say the “Bad As Hell” days. Sit back and enjoy one awesome drifting video.

JDMST End of year meet Victoria

Source: gripshfitslide.com

With the end of the year fast approaching JDMST.com Vic members banded together to have one last bash. With the turnout expected to be pretty good, Grant and I eagerly headed out after work.

There were a few cars in attendance that are becoming quite the star of the local scene, one being Heath’s wicked Datsun Wagon.
