Ok, I’m not one to rant, but really I’d like to thank ACA for again taking it upon themselves to not only brand us as Hoons, but Rev Heads and also use the term Car Enthusiast as though it’s a bad thing.
Firstly Tracey G, you open by stating that the Police (whom genuine and passionate car enthusiasts such as the people we promote) or Highway Cops as you put it, hit the road to slow down rev heads.
A: None of the well stereotypically selected drivers in the actual segment seemed to be driving in any way that seemed to be deemed unsafe, so how were the Police “slowing them down”…
B: I’m sure a quick walk around any shopping centre car park would find an astounding number of “non hoon” vehicles, with bald tyres and a number of other unroadworthy faults.
C: Not that it matters, but 1 minute of research could have prevented Sarah Stewart from calling the Evo a WRX. I’m sure this is the “scoop” she’s always been hoping might just land her a Walkley award as she’s probably normally stuck doing pieces about the most amazing new bra or old couples suffering from “bill shock”.
Anyway, this is HoonTV not having a rant, but wanting to stick up for all of those people who are extremely passionate about cars and bikes and who like to enjoy them in a safe and careful manner. We go to race tracks, car shows, drag racing and events where we can enjoy our vehicles, but please don’t brand us all just because you think you can. Essentially you’re stepping over the line with this one, but I’m sure it’s more about ratings. What’s next, branding car clubs as criminal organisations?
